Recent Contract Adds Three New Hospitals to Service Area

Home Medical Specialties was recently awarded contracts by the Health and Hospital Corporation in New York. HMS will be providing integrated respiratory services and durable medical equipment to three home health agencies in the City of New York. The agencies are associated with Harlem Hospital, Metropolitan Hospital in Manhattan, and Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx. “We are very excited about increasing our presence in these neighborhoods, and we feel quite privileged to serve the home health needs of patients in those communities” said HMS president, Aldo Silvera.

Acquisition Expands Service Area to Over 2 Million Patients

Home Medical Specialties has expanded it's service line to include customized wheelchair services and repairs. Through the acquisition of Tony Doctor Wheelchairs, Inc. and it's contracts (Blue Cross contract, Hip Contract and Empire Plan), HMS has been able to widen it's service area to include Suffolk County on Long Island and will now be able to serve over 2 million people throughout the New York City Metropolitan area.

Visiting Nurse Service of NY Partners With Home Medical Specialties

Home Medical Specialties has signed a contract with the VNS of NY to provide logistic services for home telehealth units. This program involves monitoring patients at home for blood sugar levels, blood pressure, heart rate and weight, which assists healthcare professionals in monitoring how their patients are doing between in-person visits. These vital statistics are transmitted electronically and are managed by a central nursing station. The goal of the program is to reduce emergency room visits and overall length of stay. Currently, HMS is the only company providing this service in the city of New York.
